VI Energy has been awarded the contract to complete suite of relief valve calculations for North Everest and Lomond, with API 521 part 1 having been updated in 2014 and part 2 in 2015 many changes have been made that impact on existing relief sizing cases. According to Our lead process consultant and Fellow of the institution of Chemical Engineers, Jeremy Gaze the top three errors made in relief valve design are:

1) Correct evaluation of determining downstream conditions for reverse flow case through failed check valves

2) Determining the correct composition including liquid levels and isochoric temperature at relieving pressure for fire case relief valves

3) Use of out date equations for sizing for multiphase relief.
